He doesn’t seem to like it. I suspect he isn’t alone in his opinion. Am I right?
And speaking of The Catcher in the Rye, my daughters had to read it for school during the summer. Sydney, who is sixteen, was inspired to draw this. I think it’s amazing!
Stay tuned for more from Oliver and Sydney. Can’t wait to see their take on The Great Gatsby!
Great review! Oliver the cat got it right. And Sydney the illustrator nailed it.

Ok. Oliver is somewhat right but I remember mostly liking the book. But that was 50 years ago and it seemed cool then. Your daughter’s picture is AMAZING. Excellent on a number of levels. She is very talented. Hope her teacher accepted that in lieu of a book report.

Thank you! I recall reading it in high school and I think I didn’t like the main character. Unfortunately, I think Sydney will still be required to do an essay. 🙂 Are you back from your trip?

I can’t remember my thoughts on the book, but Oliver’s doing to it what he did to my cell phone. 🙂 Amazing work, Syd, as always!

Haha! He likes to gnaw, like a little dog. I may be biased, but I think Sydney really has talent!

Now I know why I don’t like cats! The Catcher in the Rye is one of my favorites along with The Old Man and the Sea. But, I will admit that it’s been 25 years since I read it (for the second time)! Love your daughter’s drawing though. Come on Fido, let’s go back on the porch and read another great classic. How about Go Dog Go! ? Much better than Cat in the Hat.

Oh, boo, someone who doesn’t like cats! I’ll try not to hold that against you!

Oliver is a phony! Your daughter’s drawing, on the other hand, is authentic. F-F-F-F-abulous!

I remember reading The Catcher in the Rye in high school. Was that in one of your classes? (I’m not going to tell Oliver that you insulted him. He’s a little sensitive.)

I love your daughter’s drawing – that’s exactly how I remember Catcher in the Rye. Oliver certainly has strong opinions. Our cat hates any book that takes our attention away from him!

I had a cat that would always lie on my newspaper when I was reading it. You’re right – it was competition for attention.

Is it better to dog ear or cat lick a page? In my book, neither is acceptable.

I always knew books tasted delicious. See, Oliver agrees with me! I’m not alone!

I love my nieces! And what a special talent Syd has not yet shared with me! Thank you for that glimpse of life at home:)

Syd is pretty modest about it but I’m not shy about bragging!
