I’ve decided to take the week off from reading anything “blogworthy”. I just finished a long book (“Playing to the Edge”) and I’m getting ready to tackle an even longer one (Stephen King’s “11.22.63”), so I’m resting my brain.
Instead, I’m hoping to have some dialogue about something that’s been on my mind for several months now: classic books that today’s generation of kids will enjoy. Continue reading

In Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania, author Erik Larson chronicles in great detail the sinking of the Lusitania by a German submarine during World War I. Lovers of history should really enjoy this Dead Wake. It is loaded with facts about events leading up to the tragedy, the details of the sinking and some of its aftermath. Continue reading

I checked out “The Bone Labyrinth” from the library a couple of times before I finally read it. I would see it on my virtual bookshelf, think about it, and decide “nope, not ready for it yet,” and eventually it would expire, so then I would check it out again. Continue reading
